Tanning a deer skin is a process that requires a fair amount of time and patience. Once the fur has been salted, pickled, and neutralized, it is then ready for tanning. The fur must be stretched out to its maximum capacity, and then tacked or nailed on a board. Next oil it, and allowed the fur to dry. This takes several days and may vary slightly depending on the size of the fur. Once the fur is about 80% dry put in the tumbler.
