Length is 6.5 to 8.75 inches.  Wingspan is around 11.5 to 13 inches.

Food

Their food is mostly insects, especially those stirred up by foraging livestock. They may also take ticks and other bothersome ectoparasites from the hide of the large mammals with which they associates. Spiders, snails, grains and seeds of grasses and forbs are other foods they utilize.

Habitation

The preferred habitat is in an agricultural landscape that borders open woods.  The cowbird will shun deeply forested areas of conifers or deciduous trees.
